Diabeacon - The Worlds first voice enabled Kitchen Scale for Diabetics

Diabeacon is a digital health start-up focused on simplifying carbohydrate counting for diabetics. Counting carbohydrates is essential for dosing insulin (even more so with the roll out of hybrid closed loop systems which are now recommended by NICE [1]), but the process can be complex and burdensome. Current methods are either inaccurate or require significant effort, leading to diabetic distress and burnout, which negatively impacts blood sugar levels. A person with diabetes makes 180 extra decisions per day compared to someone without diabetes [2], this has a very negative impact with the burden of diabetes care resulting in over 55% of those with diabetes suffering from burnout. [3]. Our kitchen scales reduce the daily effort of carbohydrate counting which should reduce the rate of burnout.

- Making carb counting easier

We use AI to overcome the limitations of current smart kitchen scales, which are effort-intensive and not specifically designed for diabetics. Our solution uses voice recognition AI, making carb counting quicker, easier, and more cost-effective.

+ Providing Detailed insights

Integrated with Apple and Google Health, our solution gives diabetics detailed insights into how different foods affect their blood sugar levels, helping them plan their insulin requirements better.

+ Separating carbohydrates

Our industry-first smart scales can separate carbohydrates based on how quickly they act. This helps diabetics decide if they need an insulin bolus or an extended bolus, reducing the chances of blood sugar highs and lows.

+ Human-Centered Design

Diabetics are at the core of our product design. We involve them throughout our process, ensuring our solution meets their needs and includes features to make their daily lives easier

Our team was created out of love. Having witnessed the daily struggle of diabetes through living with his Type 1 diabetic girlfriend Emma, Joe set off on a mission to make daily life easier for diabetics.
